Painters and Glaziers Give Back to the Community: Holy Name Youth Football Field 21-Apr-2016 April 20 - Harrisburg, PA - 25 members of the Painters Local 411 and Glaziers Local 252 Unions participated in a day of giving at the Holy Name Jets Youth Football Field on Jonestown Road in Lower Paxton Township this past weekend.
“It’s important to give back,” said Stan Miller, President of Local 411. “My son plays here, I know what these folks do for the community. They give their time to teach kids valuable life lessons. The time they put into coaching is appreciated so when we were looking for a project to focus our efforts on, we thought this would be a good option.”
Holy Name’s football program is nearly 50 years old and the bleachers were beginning to show signs of age. The members of Local 411 and Local 252 came together on the weekend of April 16 and scraped, power-washed and painted the home side bleachers to ensure they will be around for many years to come. In addition to the hours of time put into this project, the Unions generously donated the paint and most of the supplies which cost about $1,000. D.M. Coatings of Harrisburg also donated equipment and supplies to the project.
“At the end of the day, it’s a great organization, it’s a good cause and it was fun to just get a group together focused on something that gives kids enjoyment, “ said Chuck Green, Business Agent for Local 252.
“We care about our community and it was nice to give back,” said Don Steinmeier, Business Agent for Local 411. “We were happy to help and hope the work serves the football program well for years to come.”
